Florida Fishing Report

Bass fishing has been a blast since getting back home from catching Tarpon in Boca Grande. We have been fishing a  private lake that is loaded with Bass that eat anything you throw at them. We have been catching 100 plus fish every time we go on artificials in the size range of a pound to 11 pounds. 2 to 6 pound fish are plentiful and we have been catching at least one 10 pound fish or better each time we go.

Try some night time fishing and you might be surpised at how many fish you catch and how nice it is to beat the heat. Snook fishing around our Islands have been alot of fun the last couple of weeks. We have been catching most of our snook early in the morning or late in the afternoons on Jigs, Topwaters and Jerkbaits. Anchoring the boat and walking along the beach is the easiest way, just don't forget to bring a flashlight.

There are several schools of slot size redfish around the mouth of the Anclote River and the Sand Bay flat. With the water temperatures so warm they aren't chasing anything down, so take your time with the trolling motor as you try to get close. Cut ladyfish is the easiest way to catch them when they are spooky. Park on an oyster bar or grass patch and pitch a chunk of ladyfish and see what happens.

If you want to have some fun with the kids take them on the flats around the power plant. There are herds of jacks that eat plan jig heads without a body on them. There are also a bunch of bluefish inside the plant at the barrels.
